Brassica oleracea L.

Early, heat and disease-resistant hybrid variety for summer and autumn harvest. Days to maturity - 73 days. Florets are large, heavy and resistant to bolting. Harvesting is done while the heads still have tight buds.

Belstar is a relatively compact plant suitable for growing in container. After harvesting the main head, Belstar will produce prolific, large side shoots. Harvest the central spear first with a sharp knife, as this encourages the side shoots to develop quickly. Regular picking extends cropping time.

Best yields are produced if grown in fertile, humus-rich, medium-heavy, water-permeable soil. Seeds might be treated. If the seeds are treated, the name of the treatment is given at the bottom of the package.

Broccoli grows best in partial shade.

Pre-cultivation: March, for planting out in April. Sow on moistened seed soil. Cover thinly with soil. Keep moist. Set warm (15-18°C). After emergence, bright and cooler. When the plants are big enough to handle, place 1/pot in fertilized soil. Harden off the plants before transplanting out.

Direct sowing: April - mid-June. Can be sown directly when soil temp. is at least +15°C.
