Phaseolus vulgaris

A beautiful bean, sometimes called borlotto bean, with decorative pods in pink and white. Ripe pods can be dried and the beans used as cooking beans. Young pods can be boiled and eaten as broad beans. Thrives best in well-drained, loamy and moisture-retaining soil in a sheltered position. Water abundantly.

Pre-cultivation: Maj - mid June. 2-3 weeks before planting out after the last frost. Pre-cultivation is recommended especially for more northern climates. Sow 1 seed per cell. Set warm (+25°C). Keep moist. After sprouting, place in a light place at room temp.0501-0615

Direct sowing: Mid maj - mid June. Do not sow until soil temp. is 15 °C. Rinse the seeds thoroughly before sowing. Water in the furrow. Then keep moist. Covering with fiber-cloth can keep the birds from getting at them first
