Bush bean 'Maxi'
Bush bean 'Maxi'
Phaseolus vulgaris nanus
The special thing about this variety is that the pods hang above the leaves, which means that they are free from soil and easy to see and thus harvest. The pods are about 17-18 cm long, nice and fleshy. Tolerant to viruses and robust against many diseases. Suitable for pickling, boiling or freezing. Place sunny and warm in well-drained, nutritious and moist soil. Water well during flowering.
Do not eat beans uncooked.
Pre-cultivation: 2-3 weeks before planting out after the last frost. Very good variety for northern climates. Sow 1 seed per pot/cell. Water before sowing and keep moist and warm (+25C) until germination, then room temperature with adequate light after sprouting.
Direct sowing: Do not sow until soil temp. is 15°C. Rinse the seeds thoroughly before sowing. Water before sowing and keep moist until germination. Covering with fiber-cloth can keep the birds from getting at them first!
