Cichorium endivia
Escarole is a type of chicory with deliciously lobed leaves. This is a nice variety with a well-filled rosette of leaves. Can withstand a lot of frost.
'Nuance' Escarole is an improved strain of the popular French variety ‘Grosse Bouclée’. 'Nuance' is bolt-resistant, fast-maturing and productive, forming large rosettes of broad, curled and crisp leaves that are naturally self-blanching.
Escarole lettuce is a member of the chicory family and is also known as Batavian endive and broad-leafed endive. It looks similar to a butterhead lettuce but has crispy, crinkly leaves.
