Lettuce 'Lobjoits Green Cos'
Lettuce 'Lobjoits Green Cos'
Lactuca sativa
This romaine lettuce, or cos lettuce, produces oblong heads with strong, long and crispy leaves. Can be grown well into autumn. Repeated sowing provides access to fresh lettuce all summer. Thin out or harvest leaves before the plants start crowding and then harvest whole plants gradually. Thrives in a humus-rich, moisture-retaining and well-drained soil. Water regularly.
Pre-cultivation: Mid March-to mid May, or 3-4 weeks before planting out.
Direct sowing: May - July. Early, as soon as the soil can be cultivated through July. Water in the furrow before sowing. Important to keep the seed moist. Lettuce seeds germinate poorly in high heat, not above +20°C.
