Tropaeolum majus

Flower cress with dark green, small leaves with an intensely peppery taste. Unlike other nasturtiums, Blue Pepe has few flowers and has been bred specifically for culinary use. With it's wonderful steel-blue leaves with purplish undersides, Blue Pepe is as attractive as it is tasty. The leaves are harvested when they have a diameter of about 2-3 cm. The plant produces only a few flowers which are also edible with a milder flavour. Can be grown both indoors in the window frame and outdoors in, for example, a pot or balcony box.

Nasturtium leaves have a pleasant sting reminiscent of watercress which is delicious on sandwiches or to spice up a sallad. The flavour intensifies during sunny, hot weather.
