Spinacia oleracea
Very resistant to powdery mildew. Long harvest period. Nutrient-rich, mid-season variety with dark green leaves that gives a bountiful harvest. Best suited for sowing in spring and autumn.
Spinach is an extremely nutrient-rich vegetable, packing high amounts of carotenoids, vitamin C, vitamin K, folic acid, iron, and calcium.
Place in sun to partial shade in moisture-retaining, loose, nutrient- and humus-rich soil.
Direct sowing: Early, as soon as the soil can be cultivated - mid-June and early autumn. Water the furrow before sowing. Keep the seed moist until the seeds germinate.
Sow depth, cm: 1-2
Harvest: June-July, Sept-Oct
Spacing: 5-10 cm / 1 plant per GreenStalk pocket
Location: Sun - partial shade. Should not be sown on planting sites where Swiss chard and beetroot have grown and should only be sown four years after these varieties.
