Arugula 'Rocket'

Eruca sativa

Easy to grow and fast growing with a lovely piquant flavour. Fits well as a spicy element in sallads, pasta or sandwiches and a favorite on pizza. The outer leaves are harvested after 3-5 weeks and before the plant begins flowering, leaving the leaf rosette untouched. Can be grown in a greenhouse, kitchen garden, or container. Thrives in sun to partial shade in humus-rich and sufficiently moist soil.

Cultivated arugula is at it's best in cooler seasons through early Summer as it will readily flower in the Summer heat, after which it will not continue producing leaves. Repeat sowing in late summer for harvest throughout the Fall. 

Direct sowing: Early, as soon as the soil can be cultivated-May / July-Sep. Water the seedbed before sowing. Keep the soil moist after sowing until germination has started.
