Traditional German cabbage, originating from the Filder plateau in southern Germany - where this remarkable cabbage is still celebrated each year with the Filderkraut festival!

The pointed head resembles a huge cabbage, but is a hardy and slightly loose good white cabbage, which has traditionally been used for sauerkraut. Can also be steamed, boiled or used in salad. Slowly developing big, nice heads. Not suitable for winter storage. Place in a sunny position in nutrient- and humus-rich soil.

Pointed cabbage is also known as hispi cabbage, hearted cabbage and sweetheart cabbage.

Cover early with net to protect from pests.

Pre-cultivation: April-May, 4-6 weeks before planting out. Sow on moistened seed soil. Cover thinly with soil and keep moist. Set warm (+22°C). After emergence, bright and cooler. When the plants are big enough to handle, place 1/pot in fertilized soil. Harden off before planting out.

Direct sowing: April-May. Can be sown directly when soil temp. is at least +5°C, but pre-cultivation is recommended.

Harvest: Long season cabbage ready for harvest in Sept-Oct

Spacing: 60cm / 1 plant per GreenStalk pocket (may not reach full size in a vertical planter)
