Brassica rapa
A variety of Chinese cabbage with crisp, light green leaves with strong white veins. This particular variety develops quickly and can be harvested as small heads for best flavour 6-7 weeks after planting out. Suitable for growing early and late in the season. Both the outer leaves and the closed head can be eaten. Good both fresh in sallads and in stir fries when harvested small.
High in vitamins A, C and iron.
Cover early to protect from pests.
Pre-cultivation: Feb-April or July-August for planting out when two leaf pairs have formed. Sow on moistened seed soil. Cover thinly with soil or vermiculite. Keep moist. Set warm (20-25°C). After emergence, bright and cooler. Harden off before planting out.
