Cutting celery 'Gewone Snij'

Healthy, tasty and fast-growing herb that can be used in both stews, soups and sauces. Stems and leaves can be both frozen and dried.

Thrives in sun to partial shade in porous, humus-rich soil. It is important to keep the soil moist and to thin out the plants. Protect from cold.

Pre-cultivation: March. Sow in moistened sowing soil, press the seeds lightly into the soil and do not cover. Use individual plug containers and plant several seeds in each plug. Thin, if necessary, to 2 or 3 plants per plug.

Set at room temp. After emergence move to a cooler location (max 16 degrees, otherwise they bloom too early) and provide light. When the plants are large enough to handle, repot 1 plug/pot with fertilized soil. Plant out after the last frost.

Direct sowing: After last frost. Water before sowing, press the seeds lightly into the soil and do not cover. Keep the seed moist until the seeds germinate.
