Phaseolus coccineus
A low variety of runner bean with eye-catching red and white flowers and dark reddish beans. Broad, flat, stringless pods with a good taste. Low-growing, decorative bean suitable for growing in containers.
Harvest the pods when they are slender. Thrives in well-drained, humus-rich and moisture-retaining soil and in a sheltered location. Water abundantly.
Pre-cultivation: Mid-May - Mid-June, 2-3 weeks before planting out after the last frost. Very good variety for northern climates. Sow 1 seed per pot/cell and keep moist. Warm (+25ºC) during germination then room temperature with adequate light after sprouting.
Direct sowing: Do not sow until the soil temperature is +15°C. Soak the seeds for a day before sowing. Water before sowing and keep moist until germination. Covering with fiber-cloth keeps the birds from finding them first!
Spacing: 25 cm / 2-3 plants per GreenStalk pocket
Sow depth: 5 cm
Height, cm: 45
Location: Sun (preferred) or partial shade
Harvest: August - September
Number of seeds: for 8-9 plants
