Kale 'Scarlet'

Brassica oleracea

A kale with beautiful red leaves. Useful, nutritious, easy to grow and decorative. Eat raw in salads or cooked. Can be left out and harvested even during the winter. Thrives in clayey, loamy and well-drained soil, but is unpretentious. Water when dry.

Pre-cultivation: 4-6 years before planting out April-mid June. Sow on moistened seed soil. Cover thinly with soil. Keep moist. Set warm (+22°C). After emergence, bright and cooler. When the plants are big enough to handle, place 1/pot in fertilized soil. Harden off the plants before transplanting out.

Direct sowing: April - mid June. Can be sown directly when soil temp. is at least +5°C, but pre-cultivation is recommended.

Protect from pests with net.
