Nicotiana x sanderae
Wonderfully richly flowering and easy to grow flowering tobacco that is quite resistant to rain and wind and will flower long into Autumn. The variety is dark red without fragrance. Very beautiful both in a flowerbed and in a pot. Thrives in nutritious, well-drained soil. Water and feed regularly. Cut off wilted flowers.
Blooms willingly all summer. Pick off wilted flowers. Sun to partial shade (more sun = more flowers).
Also called flowering tobacco and ornamental tobacco.
Note: do not plant nicotiana in close proximity (or in the same vertical planter) as tomatoes, peppers or eggplant).
Pre-cultivation: March - mid-April. Sow thinly in moist soil. The seeds must not be covered with soil. Cover with foil or place in mini greenhouse. Place light at 20-25 degrees.
