Well-known and popular herb. Flat leaf parsley is more flavorful than the curly-leaf. Harvest leaves when needed and well into autumn. The plant overwinters in most climates, and gives an early harvest in year 2 before it blooms. Freezes well. Thrives in a nutrient-rich and well-drained soil. Water when dry.
Pre-cultivation: March - mid April for planting out after the last frost. Soaking the seeds for 2-3 days gives faster germination.
Direct sowing: Early, as soon as the soil can be cultivated - mid-June. Water in the seedbed before sowing. Keep the seed moist. Germination time 2-4 weeks. Soaking the seeds for 2-3 days gives faster germination. Cover with fiber cloth for best results.
Can also be sown in the fall Sept - Oct for an earlier harvest the following spring.
