Velvett summer flower and herbal spice. Smells lovely. Low, cushion-shaped plant. Beautiful in groups, as a border plant or in the herb garden. Perfect in pots and patio boxes. Produces beautiful, small, orange flowers that smell fresh of orange. Both the flowers and the light, filigree leaves can be enjoyed as a healthy addition to fried vegetables, fish, salads, marinades, butter or on cakes and desserts. Dried leaves can be used in tea blends. Withstands rain and strong wind.
Tagetes tenuifolia - also known as signet marigold, golden marigold, and lemon marigold - is considered the tastiest of all the marigolds.
Thrives in sun to partial shade in well-fertilized soil. Is not particularly demanding.
Pre-cultivation: Sow sparsely in moistened seed soil. Allow to germinate at 18°C. Replant to 1 plant/pot. Set bright and slightly cooler. Plant out after frost. Keep the soil moist after sowing until germination has started.
Direct sowing: Water the sowing area before sowing. Keep moist.
