Tuscan kale 'Black Magic'
Tuscan kale 'Black Magic'
Brassica oleracea
A wonderfully decorative palm cabbage with long, narrow leaves that grow like a palm crown. The healthy black cabbage is used, among other things, in Italian cooking and is delicious in casseroles and pasta dishes. Black kale has a more earthy and less bitter flavour than curly green kale, with an almost nutty sweetness.Â
Harvest leaves as needed from about 3 months after sowing. Frost resistant.
Other names for Tuscan kale are Italian kale, dinosaur kale, flat back kale, cavolo nero, palm tree kale, Lacinato kale and black Tuscan palm.
