Seven Hills develops small, robust plants which makes it suitable for almost any weather conditions. In addition, it is extremely hardy, which can extend the harvest period from December to March. At about half the height of other varieties it is a good choice for containers. Seven Hills is an old favourite for it's great taste, steamed and served with bacon served is an absolute treat.
Brussel sprouts are heavy feeders, fertilize regularly!
As the sprouts begin to form, pull off the leaves above them.
The larger "sprout" at the top of the plant can be eaten as well and is delicious, but be patient - once you take it the lower sprouts will stop developing.
Pre-cultivation: March - June. Sow on moistened seed soil. Cover thinly with soil. Keep moist. Set warm (15-20°C). After emergence, bright and cooler. When the plants are big enough to handle, place 1/pot in fertilized soil. Harden off the plants before transplanting out.
Direct sowing: Apr - June. Can be sown directly when soil temp. is at least +15°C.
Protect from pests with net.
