Bush bean 'Saxa'
Bush bean 'Saxa'
Phaseolus vulgaris
A nice variety of early bean. Produces a large harvest of dark green pods. Harvest often. Tastes best about 12 cm long and slender. Can be blanched and frozen. Thrives best in well-drained, loamy and moisture-retaining soil in a sheltered position. Water abundantly.
Pre-cultivation: Maj-June, 2-3 weeks before planting after the last frost. Pre-cultivation is recommended, especially for northern regions. Sow 1 seed/cell. Keep moist. Keep warm (+25ºC). After sprouting, place in a light place at room temp.
Direct sowing: Mid may-mid June. Do not sow until soil temp. is 15 °C. Rinse the seeds thoroughly before sowing. Water in the furrow. Then keep moist. Covering with fiber-cloth can keep the birds from getting at them first.
