Chinese cabbage 'Scarvita' F1
Chinese cabbage 'Scarvita' F1
Brassica rapa
A delicious, purple Chinese cabbage of heading sort that retains its beautiful color during cooking. Crispy leaves, perfect in a salad, lightly stir-fried or grilled. Gives nice, evenly sized heads, approx. 2 months after sowing. Thrives best in nutrient-rich, open and well-drained soil. Keep soil watered. Fiber cloth protects against insect attacks and the plants grow faster. Keeps nicely in the fridge.
Chinese cabbage needs to mature while temperatures are cooler, plan accordingly for your climate.
Pre-cultivation: mid June-July, or 2-3 weeks before planting out.
Direct sowing: June-early August. Earlier sowing is not recommended, as this can produce plants that flower without forming heads. Water the soil before sowing. Keep the seed moist.
