Tagetes tenuifolia Cav.

Blooms extensively with small golden flowers. Grows and blooms in both sunny and shaded areas, heat tolerant. Can be grown in containers and flower gardens together with other perennial and annual flowers. 'Golden gem' contains essential oil and a strong citrusy, lemon scent.

Signet marigolds are frequently used in salads and as edible garnishes. Both the flowers and the light, filigree leaves can also be enjoyed as a healthy addition to fried vegetables, fish, salads, marinades, butter or on cakes and desserts. Dried leaves can be used in tea blends. Withstands rain and strong wind.
